Heather R. Martin, Of Counsel, focuses her practice on employment/labor issues including advising public bodies on discipline and discharge, wage and hour compliance, family medical leave, discrimination complaints, personnel handbook drafts and updates, and responding to BOLI and EEOC complaints. She also conducts workplace employment investigations.

She handles real estate issues including acquisition of property, review of easements, right-of-way agreements and public-private partnership development agreements including prevailing wage rate determinations. 

In addition she also handles public record/open meetings, election, and other municipal law matters for the firm’s clients.  

Previously, she worked for the Legal and Fiscal Research Divisions of the North Carolina General Assembly and she also served as an associate at the Charlotte, North Carolina-based firm, Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein.  In her spare time she likes hanging out with her family, watching college basketball, and eating Girl Scout cookies.
